Avoiding Distractions
Finding the right space for you to get your work done is not as simple as it seems. Unless you have the work ethic of the Queen, working from home can be difficult. From the continual distractions of food and TV, to even doing some housework if the creative block is really bad, there is always going to be something that pulls your attention away from what you should be concentrating on.
What Are The Workspace Options?
So where do you go when the house won’t do? Do you set yourself up in a shed at the end of the garden? Go to a library or will you follow in the steps of many a novelist and screenwriter and try out your local coffee shop. What we do know is that the workspace that works for one person may not necessarily work for another. For example, many love the peace and solitude of working in a library while another person may find the silence deafening and ironically, in some ways, more distracting.
In contrast, similar can be said for working in a coffee shop. Some love the continual hustle and bustle acting like a fancy white noise machine in the background, and there's the smell of fresh coffee and cake as an added bonus! That said, the easy availability of fresh coffee and cakes could leave your wallet or purse feeling lighter while you get heavier.
Coworking Space Ticks All The Boxes
Okay so you are looking for a space that is easy to get to and quiet… but not too quiet. You need to have easy access to food and drink and the opportunity to associate with other like minded professionals.
Welcome to the world of coworking - a happy medium between peace and quiet for maximum concentration and having intellectual conversations about your industry and jobs. Let’s face it a problem shared is a problem halved. With coworking the opportunities for flexible working and contracts can also be enhanced, so who knows where it could lead.
Most coworking spaces will let you try it out for a day or a month and if it works great and if it doesn't there are other options to try. With spring around the corner there is alway the park!
